Dragon Age: Origins

Dragon Age: Origins
From the makers of Mass Effect, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, and Baldur's Gate comes Dragon Age: Origins, an epic tale of violence, lust, and betrayal. The survival of humanity rests in the hands of those chosen by fate. You are a Grey Warden, one of the last of an ancient order of guardians who have defended the lands throughout the centuries. Betrayed by a trusted general in a critical battle, you must hunt down the traitor and bring him to justice. As you fight your way towards the final confrontation with an evil nemesis, you will face monstrous foes and engage in epic quests to unite the disparate peoples of a world at war. A romance with a seductive shape shifter may hold the key to victory, or she may be a dangerous diversion from the heart of your mission. To be a leader, you must make ruthless decisions and be willing to sacrifice your friends and loved ones for the greater good of mankind.

Dragon Age: Origins

Dragon Age is a blockbuster fantasy role-playing game set in a world created and owned by BioWare. Dragon Age will offer a deep, party-based, roleplaying experience in both single-player and multi-player game modes. Utilizing a brand new game engine, Dragon Age will feature stunning visuals with a tantalizing blend of the exploration and combat of Baldur's Gate, the multi-player gameplay and community support of Neverwinter Nights, and a cinematic gameplay experience from BioWare, the developer of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. Explore vast landscapes, engage in massive battles, and experience the sights, sounds, and culture of the heroic new world of Dragon Age.

Let me just state this right now and right away, this is by far my all time favorite RPG ever. I've spent only about 11 hours playing but it does not matter, Bioware is not just gonna drop the ball in the remaining 40-70 hours I have left playing.

I have never in my life sat down to a game and played 10 hours straight as I did yesterday with Dragon Age. Its the fun combat with the gory blood. It's the AMAZING characters in the world that bioware has created. The grand overall story so far is great, but it's the characters they created that makes the engine go.

The combat is fun and tactical (PC VERSION) and while the graphics certainly are not mind blowing, they are decent to great at times, but the ARTWORK, is A++++. The artwork really is wonderful. I've certainly run into some of the quest bugs that have been spoken about in some reviews, but this isbioware and I know a patch will be forth coming. I will say I did have some trouble with inventory management and quest organization, as much as I love this game it does have some issues. I don't think I'm a huge fan of the ui/inventory system.

Dragon Age: OriginsI am a fan of the dialogue chooses and what I think is interesting is unlike other bioware games, your choices are subtly woven through the way you play. In other words unlike Kotor and Mass Effect. Choice 1, 2 and 3 are not the drastically changed because of choice 1 or 2 from before, it's a slow subtle flow instead of the old knee jerk changes because of once prior decision I made earlier. Unlike the grand scheme of evil and good, your choices change depending on the character you are speaking with. I'm basically hating humans and my choices between lets say speaking to a human and speaking to a dwarf or different giving the Role Playing I am doing.

And That just it! This game is actually a real Role Playing Game. I actually found myself Role Playing and I've never really done that honestly. I am thinking like a character and THAT is the ultimate praise I can give this game. The combat and leveling system is fun sure, I actually think the leveling is just OK. It's not the greatest system ever created, but it is fun. But the role playing is Top Notch.

I have only replayed one other game in my life and that was MASS EFFECT because I'm a sci-fi nut. However, I will be playing Dragon Age at least 2 more times to see the other origin stories and to see the game change as I play the other choices. I am so happy that It's 6:30am before work and I want to get an hour in this morning ofDRAGON AGE. I have NEVER done that before. I dream of DRAGON AGE last night and THAT is the ultimate testament. What a great experience, it's not even a game for me, it's an experience!
