Neo Contra

In the year 1986, quite possibly the greatest game in the world was created: Contra. Silently busting into the Arcades, and becoming a cult classic on the NES within minutes, Contra had enough ass kickin' to make even Ash himself from the Evil Dead trilogy jealous. A year later, Super Contra was put into the arcades and renamed Super C for the NES. The lesser known Arcade version of Super Contra was harder than the original, brought forth new weapons, and then was completely changed for the NES.

Story
One year after Bill and Lance kicked Red Falcon's ass, they are sent into a new jungle to investigate another possible infestation. Dropped in by helicopter into the remains of an enemy base, Bill and Lance within seconds of landing already have more ass to kick than ever before.

Not too much of a story, but since when did two guys with rifles need anymore story than that?

Parasite Eve II (PS1)

Parasite Eve 2 marks a departure from Squaresoft line of RPG's.
At its core, Parasite Eve 2 is structured much like an RPG, but the actual gameplay is more of an action game.
Contrary to what many believe Parasite Eve 2 is not a Resident Evil clone, as there are many differences that set it apart from the Resident Evil series.

Parasite Eve 2 continues on from where the original left off, and has you cast as Aya Brea once again. Aya is now a member of an FBI department known as MIST, or Mitochondrion Investigation and Suppression Team. She hunts and kills NMC's, Neo-Mitochondria Creatures. NMC's are deformed creatures caused by mutated mitochondria. Mitochondria are a part of the cell that provides energy for that cell. Within the story of Parasite Eve, this mitochondria mutates, turning the host into a hideously deformed creature intent only on its own survival. Aya hunts these creatures for a living, and also has the responsibility of covering up the truth about NMC's from society, as most do not know they exist.
Aya herself possesses mutated mitochondria, but she is able to control it and channel it to do magical attacks. At the start of the game she only has access to pyrokinesis but she learns more abilities as the game progresses. More on that later.
Implausible as the story may sound, it sets a good backdrop for the action, and as long as you don't take it too seriously it's easy to lose yourself in.

Kagero Deception 2

"This brings a new meaning to the word evil."

FUN FACTOR
I don't think fun is the right word for this game. More like ''devilishly evil'' seems to fit better. Hearing screams from fallen prey makes me shiver with delight.

GRAPHICS
This is an area where this game stumbles a bit. Clipping occurs every now and then and the levels could have been more polished. Enemy models though are excellent and very realistic.

SOUND
Excellent voice samples help convey the dark mood of the game. The music you hear during the prologue of each level is high quality work. Also, hearing a pendulum swing back and forth is another way sounds enhance the horror theme.

CONTROL
It takes a while to master your characters control. It is sometimes difficult to turn corners. If you master strafing it will help.

REPLAY VALUE
There are so many trap combinations that you will be trying to get bigger combos every time. There are also multiple path branches that open up according to the way you answer questions. A bunch of secret traps you can acquire by getting different endings.

OVERALL
It is so refreshing to have a game where you take the role of a bad guy.(Bad girl in this case.)If setting up devious traps to catch trespassers and watching as they die horribly makes you drool with delight, this game is for you.
